And now for something completely different…

Yes! I’m still alive… and I do check up on things here daily, so feel free to leave comments, I would totally love that.

From time to time, the place I work will run print ads or mailers advertising specials, coupons  and such. I get to design the ads, which is super cool, since I really don’t have much of a design background (I am related to a graphic designer, so, does that count?).I thought I’d share the latest one.

This one should be coming out in the next few weeks. I’m excited to see how the final print will look. The store location and such has been omitted for my own privacy. (I’m a little weird like that), but you can get the idea. It would have been under the website address. (That’s not a working address either).

The pegboard, note paper and ripped loose leaf are from sxc.hu. Sticky notes were photographed by me. The image of the skiers and logos are from ski/snowboard company media files.

Check out this cute little squirrel eating the seeds in this tree! I wish a could’ve gotten a clear shot, But he was a bit camera-shy.

Hint: He’s hiding be hind the leaves.

(I’ve decided its a “he”. I have no facts to back that up.)

The Path by F.Scala (on Flickr)

I know I’ve been absent here for quite a while. Just letting you all know I’m still alive (if there’s anyone who reads this anyhow), and unfortunately busy at work, so my posts will be a little scarce, but I’ll try to drop by here when I can, probably more likely on weekends than my usual Tuesdays…

It’s fall, and I’m missing all the awesome foliage shots! Dang work getting in the way ;-).

Here’s an oldie from a fall or two ago…

Welcome home Gnome!

Our little friend took a trip to Schaumburg, IL. There’s a few new shots posted over on the Traveling Gnome page.

Back in action!

Well, sort of. At least my car has been repaired. My job has switched over to winter hours extremely early this year, so I’m back to the 10 hour days. That kinda cuts into my time for photography a bit, since I don’t get home before 9pm most days. Hopefully it will only be a temporary thing, and once the “Summer Sale” is over I can go back to normal hours for another month or so. I wasn’t expecting for my summer to be cut short already!

Here’s one shot from that roll of film that was waiting to be developed when my car decided it was done working for a bit…. I mistakenly shot this roll at ISO 400, but it was actually 800 speed film, so its a bit washed out.  It also was crazy sunny that day, which probably didn’t help either. I did try to tweak it a little in PS. I kinda like it in this pic. One of those happy accidents I guess.

There’s another couple of new shots over in Traveling Gnome as well.

Almost

I almost had a bunch of pictures to post today, but instead, I’m about to have another nasty car bill.

I jumped into my car this afternoon, after finishing off a roll of film, to get it developed, and my car got me about a quarter mile down the road before it decided it had enough, and promptly stalled out. I tried to start it up again, and didn’t even get a sputter. So, after waiting on the side of the road for about an hour for a tow, and a ride back home, I am without a car, or a roll of freshly developed film.

Sucks. A lot.

And if one more person says “well, I guess its time for a new car…” I’m gonna SCREAM!

That’s all for now… Hopefully, the boy will be feeling up to a drive tomorrow and maybe I’ll get my film developed.

Oh! And I added another picture to the Traveling Gnome’s page, courtesy of Steve and his super cool new Verizon Dare phone. There’s a link over there on the right!

New stuff coming soon!

Just wanted to let you know that I haven’t forgotten about this place! My schedule has been pretty much turned upside down at work, so until I get things in order, I won’t have as much time as I would like to shoot. But hopefully that will change soon.

Have a great rest of the week!

I promise no more lilies, after this one!

There’s something about this photo that I like. I think its the nifty pattern the fence bokeh makes in the background. And maybe the pop of color from the flowers against the gray of the fence. I wasn’t originally a bit fan of this one, but it has grown on me a bit.

I was all excited about having the day off, and was hoping to get out and do some shooting today, but alas it’s raining. So I’ll have to wait a bit to finish up that roll of film. But at least I got my oil changed, and I’ve been needing to do that for a while now. Guess I’ll spend the rest of the afternoon watching some TV with the katzen.

I’m also a bit torn on my upcoming dslr purchase. I’ve been saving for a Nikon D80, but I’ve been doing some research, and I’ve found the the D200 I can get used for a decent price. (for the body only, vs the D80 package). Its probably way more camera than I’ll ever need, BUT it will meter with my old manual Nikkor lenses. The D80 will work with those lenses as well, but it won’t meter. I’m not sure how much of a pain that will be for me, or if buying the D200 used is even a good idea. Although the site I saw it on, I have purchased from in the past, and they’ve been nothing short of fantastic, so I’m not terribly worried. Any comments or ideas are welcome. I need some major help with this decision.
