Not much new news to post as of late I guess. But I suppose no news is good news? Or something like that…

Hope the summer starts to pick up a bit. We haven’t seen much sun here in about 3 months or so. This has to be the rainiest spring/summer in history.

It’s still raining…

It’s still raining…

And I wonder if I’ll ever see the sun again.

I’m still hoping for some feedback on those two photos I posted yesterday, but after downloading and reading the entry forms, I am allowed to send 2 images, so that makes my decision pretty easy. I did crop the red tulip a little, just so that it isn’t smack in the middle of the shot.

Help me choose

I went to the Huntington Tulip Festival today, even though it was raining. I wasn’t able to get too much before the downpour. I have a couple of images that I think came out pretty well. I’m going to try my hand at that photo contest, but I want your help. Of these two images, which do you prefer?

another rainy day…

It’s supposed to rain all weekend. I hope it lets up a bit for the festival this Sunday, that would be disappointing, since this would be the 1st year in about 6 years that I would actually be able to make it there without work getting in the way. It would figure it would rain.

Also slightly disappointing, the Starbucks by me is closing down after next week.  Now I’ll have to travel a bit farther for coffee and free wifi.

Here’s another shot from the photo shoot in Stony Brook the other day.

Christina’s photoshoot

Christina was nice enough to let me drag her out to Stony Brook,  and try taking some portraits today. These are  a few shots from our day. I still have a lot to work on, but for my first attempt at portraiture, I don’t think they came out all that bad. Any comments, critiques and suggestions are gladly welcomed.

Another brilliant day. I think it reached around 86 degrees today. It’s hot, and it’s not even summer yet! Went for a walk around downtown Port Jefferson for a little while.. Turns out there was an antiques show there so we took a look around. I was able to sneak a few shots in ;-) so I think it turned out to be a pretty nice day.

Found these tulips on my walk. I love the bright colors

These old glass bottles looked really cool sitting in the sun.

it’s Friday.

It was finally a perfect, non-rainy spring day; and I was well enough to get out for a bit to use my new camera. I didn’t get to take too many shots though, the sinus pressure in my head started to get the best of me.

Went over to Starbucks for a bit, thought I’d bring my laptop and hang out for a bit; enjoy the day. But I couldn’t seem to get my wifi to work… spent an hour there fighting with my laptop, but no luck. But at least I got out for a little bit. I’ve been stuck in the house for pretty much the entire week.

Next week is the Heckscher Tulip Festival, so I’m going to try and get out there to take a some more photos. I’ve been meaning to do it the past few years, but never seemed to be able to get the day off.

Happy Friday everyone!

I finally got it!!!!! I got my Nikon D200 today!

Now I just need to learn how to use it! Its gonna be a little tricky, as I don’t actually own any auto lenses, so I’ll be using my old manual lenses for now, until I can afford to buy a new lens. But I’m so excitied to get out there and start shooting. Unfortunately, I have the most awful cold right now, but if I’m feeling up to it tomorrow I’m gonna try to get out for a little bit and try it out, if its not raining like it has been all week.

YAY!

here’s the first picture I’ve taken with it… Its a bit washed out, and Domino looks a bit annoyed. lol

very 1st D200 image!
